Description
Feature
- Include the contents of the log file that is attached to the error email.
Use Case
- In response to a SourceForge post:
Our use case is that our log files are usually fairly small but it is difficult to get at the attachments on certain phones when there are off hours failures.
Maintainer Notes
- This feature requires more thorough specification in order to correspond to the use case:
- Caveats
- Adding logs of arbitrary length to the email body would extend the time required to load that email by a phone. Providing logs as attachments leaves the choice to the user to load or not to load an attachment. Delayed loading of attachments is supported by most phones in the mean-time.
- Creating email with exuberant content in the body prevents the use of SMS services that are used by some users. This could result in flooding if separate messages had to be created for each 160 characters of content.
- Alternative Solutions
- Use of the JobScheduler Monitoring Interface that notifies a System Monitor such as Nagios, Zabbix, HP OpenView etc. of the current error message.
- This would allow to include the error message directly in the body of an email.
- System Monitors usually dispose of elaborated escalation features that would allow to send notifications by different media e.g. depending on the duration of a problem.

- Caveats
- This feature is not intended for immediate implementation.
