Cycle Instruction should work with a period that extends past midnight

    XMLWordPrintable

Details

    Description

      Current Behavior

      • The Cycle Instruction allows defining a period for which the cycle is repeated. Job Admission Times allow defining a period for which a job can run before being terminated.
      • For both instructions the period
        • can be specified to exceed the end of day if one of the following Admission Time Schemes is used: MonthlyWeekdayPeriod, SpecificDatePeriod, MonthlyDatePeriod
        • cannot be specified to exceed the end of day if the following Admission Time Scheme is used: DailyPeriod
      • As a result, if a Cycle Instruction is configured using weekdays, then for periods exceeding the end of day no cycles will be executed..
      • The cycle of a Cycle Instruction with a period that extends past midnight stops at midnight for all Admission Time Scheme.

      Desired Behavior

      • The Workflow can be assigned the "period begin" setting that specifies the hour of the begin of day used to calculate the max. duration of periods in the Cycle Instruction and AdmissionTimes Instruction.
      • GUI
        • The input field for "period begin" is made availabe below the time zone assigned the workflow. Input such as 02:00:00 can be specified.
        • There is no default value. If the setting is left empty, then no related JSON element should be created.
      • API
        • The API checks that the duration specified for any period will not exceed the end of day calculated from the "period begin" setting.
        • The API creates a reference and an object for "begin of day" for the Controller.
        • The API considers the "begin of day" object when deplyoing, revoking and removing workflows.
      • A day lasts 24 hours and the period cannot exceed the day. Users who wish a period lasting from 22:00 until 02:00 next day can use the "period begin" setting with a value 02:00 (or later).
