Support for encryption of Unicode characters

    XMLWordPrintable

Details

    Description

      Current Situation

      • Users report that a % character encrypted to a value of a Job Resource variable is not properly decrypted.
      • Users have to double the "%" otherwise the character is not present anymore when I decrypt the password with js7-decrypt.cmd.
      • The issue occurs for Windows when using the js7-encrypt.cmd script. The % characeter has a special meaning in Windows and is substituted before encryption can occuur.

      Desired Behavior

      • Encryption/Decryption should support any Unicode characters.

      Maintainer Notes

      • The issue is dismissed as it is a limitation of the Windows Shell. JS7 classes for encryption/decryption process any Unicode characters, including %.
      • Users of a Windows Platform find a PowerShell cmdlet that is not affected by Windows Shell limitations. Recommendations and examples are available from the JS7 - How to encrypt and decrypt using PowerShell article.
