    Description

      Current Situation

      • When using the Copy operation for a folder, the folder and its sub-folders and inventory objects are copied successfully. However, inventory objects referenced by objects within the folder, but located in other folders, are not copied.
      • As a result, the copied folder does not contain all inventory objects referenced by its objects.

      Desired Behaviour

      • The Copy operation for a folder should perform a deep copy of the selected folder and its contents. It should also copy any referenced inventory objects, including referenced objects that are located outside the selected folder.

      Maintainer Notes

      • The issue is dismissed as it is undesired behavior to include objects from other folders in the Copy operation that is limited by the folder and sub-folders specified. When hitting a folder limit, then a shallow copy operation is performed. For objects in scope of the selected folder and sub-folders a deep copy operation is performed.
      • Folders are visual boundaries in the inventory that can be limited by Folder Permissions and therefore represent a hard limit to what is copied. If objects from other folders are not included in the Copy operation, then the copied objects will hold references to the related folders.
      • The documentation will be updated to explain the limits imposed by folders.
